The main idea that guided my artwork was the prompts given, for zentangles and negative space hands, and the cover of a song I like for the leaf project. I really like the colors and look of the song cover, so I made something similar. For the value strip dolphin, I used a lightbox to trace a dolphin in sharpie pen, then used henna techniques and pen to fill in designs to create an ombre effect. For the hands, I used graphite pencil to sketch the hands and shade the outside to create negative space. I had to redraw the gestures a few times to get them right, because drawing realistic hands is difficult. For the leaves, I first had to make an outline of the leaves using graphite pencil, then went over them in sharpie pen. I then used watercolor to add color and vibrance. I had to revise some of the colors to make them blend better as I went along, and also had to go over in more black ink at the end because the paint dulled the lines. I used the cover of Pursuit of Happiness as my guide, so I referred to that as I went along.
