Extended Blind Contour Drawing

Hand grabbing Norah and Sadie

12"x9"

Sharpie pen, watercolour

The main idea that guided my artwork was the placement of the heads in proportion to the hand. I thought I could make the hands look like they are turning against the heads and trying to grab them. I then decided that I could connect them all into one and make it a Siamese twin that is afraid of itself. The faces look worried (we had to draw them without looking) so it turned out better than I expected. I made the background colorful and ombre to add a pop of color and make it even more interesting.

For my work, I outlined everything in sharpie pen and used watercolor paint to add color. I then went over it again in pen to make everything more defined.

For this piece, we had to draw a hand, a self portrait, and a portrait of our table partner all without looking and while keeping the line fluid and connected. I added a lot of thick black lines to make the art flow better. I was not originally going to make the background ombre, but I remember seeing a lot of paintings using abstract colors so I wanted to try that out.
