Princess with deer

Color pencil, black marker

12" x 9"

The main idea that guided my artwork was the ink blot. I had to first figure out what I saw, which was a girl with a dress, and the rest fell into place. After I filled in her dress and hair, I decided that a deer and making the art more woodsy seemed to fit. So, everything else in the picture took after the girl.

I first outlined everything with the girl in pencil and filled it all in with color pencil and outlined her dress in black marker. I sketched the deer with pencil and filled it in with color pencil, and did the same with the grass, river, and sky

The process I followed started with the hair and sketching the individual pieces. That took me a bit because some were too big or small. I then had to look up a deer and tried to use that to guide my drawing, especially for the antlers. The girls shoes took me a little bit to do as well, because they just looked wonky and uneven.
