Sunset
8 by 8.5 inches
Acrylic paint and canvas
The main idea that guided my work was trying to create a super blended and relaxing looking scene. I took some inspiration from Claude Monet because the art looks textured while still appearing blended. For this art, I used acrylic paint and canvas. I cut a few inches off the top of the canvas because I liked how the sunset looked on a more square base rather than overly long like I thought the full size looked. I spent a lot of time making sure to really buff out all the paint and make it as seamless and blended as I could. Originally, I did not have a hill there, but just a green field. The hill came about by accident when I got some green above where I wanted, and it inspired me to make a hill. I think I did a good job of creating a nice shadow between the hill to add dimension, as well as bringing down some colors and darkness from the sunset to the grass to make it more realistic. Overall, blending took a long time and was definitely harder than it seems.
