Realistic Self-Portrait

Artist Statement:

The main idea that guided my artwork was the prompt provided of a black and white self portrait with shading to add dimension. The work was made by first creating a grid proportional to the printed picture of ourselves, and using different graphite pencils to draw everything and add shadows. It took me a really long time for the eyes because they really do affect how the whole rest of the face looked. I had to revise a lot with the hairline and forehead to make everything more proportional, and I noticed that shading really did affect the art a lot and make it more realistic and dimensional
