Acrylic and paint marker on canvas

For this piece, I started by cutting out images from various magazines such as National Geographic and Peoples magazine. I cut out many different bolded and various words with different fonts, photographs, and some digital images and textures. I arranged them randomly all over the tagboard and then glued it down with Elmer's glue. To cover up some white edges I took blue colored paper to add to the edges.

On my canvas, I started by sketching my ideas and my inspiration from the collage. I definitely took away some parts of the collage and put a different twist onto the painting so there were some different elements such as color and shape. Once I finished my sketch I moved on to the acrylic painting part. I had to mix many different colors to find each shade I wanted.

To finish up my painting I took paint markers to clean up the edges and to create some patterns in some areas such as the light blue to the bottom left. If I were to do this again I would get more images of animals and some more textural images from my collage. However, I still like the busyness of the work right now.
