Marker, Graphite, and Pen on Bristol Board

For my ideas I wanted to develop something that revolved around the sun that was very peaceful, and that everyone could relate to when looking as it. I also wanted certain worlds such as sun, sky, Organ, and Tissue to stand out so that this would pop to someone's eye so I already knew I wanted these to be different colors than the rest of the text. Making this cartoon like was also very important so that it was a very easy image to see and understand.

My materials mainly focused around markers, graphite and pen. I chose graphite for my base layer to sketch out where I wanted to place everything but also make it easy to erase and think about the rest of the process. I chose marker to make very solid color and tat very cartoon look and the pen also helped with this through the outline of each shape.

I started by making a one inch border on all sides and then sketching out lightly with graphite where everything would be placed. I then went in with marker and started with the sun to make it yellow and the water area below it to make it blue and then get progressively lighter as it went further away from the sun. I proceeded to the birds with black and then the text with blue but left out those four words so that they would pop when I added the yellow or pink. With the font I made these two different sections so that they would be separated by also a little connected with the color scheme or the blue and then the two words for each popping out. The last things I did was take a very light blue marker and pass over the white areas so the it looks like the sky and the space on the paper was filler, the other thing I did was take a pen and trace everything with that pen so it looked more cartoonish than that realistic feel.
