For this assignment, we were assigned a random noun at first. We were instructed to include this noun in any way shape or form in our design. I was assigned the word mac and cheese bowl. I wanted to include the text into the actual drawing of a mac and cheese bowl and include all the words. This being said I made the bowl into the shape of a bowl and used mac and cheese to create the macaroni part. I used forms that even look like macaroni so that the person looking at it would understand the concept. I tried to include the macaroni and the drips of the cheese both into the shape of the bowl and the world of the bowl. I also created the o into a shell macaroni and the l into an elbow macaroni. For my Fhs logo, I wanted to also include the words in my shape. I used the falcon mascot to represent the school again and include two crossing lacrosse sticks because my favorite sport is lacrosse. The use of negative space was also very important to me because I wanted there to be two different sides to the logo showing positive and negative space that would pop out to someone.

The first step to both logos was sketching out the design. I started this in my sketchbook and then once I figured out the most desired design I transferred this to drawing paper. In my sketchbook, I played around with different ways to play with shape, size, negative and positive space, and many many different ways to arrange each element I wanted to include. As soon as I started sketching down many different ideas I found one for each of the logos and kept elaborating and trying to make the logos the best I could. In my head, I also wanted to keep both of these designs 2d because I wanted them to be able to be very recognizable and simple as possible.

I experimented quite a bit with each of these logos while playing around with shape, text, and space. I like the simplicity and effectiveness of each. Even though we were only limited to black and white it allowed me to play around with this positive and negative space as much as possible, especially in the Fhs Logo. Because of the color restrictions, I just used a black pen and black sharpy to stay within these restrictions even though it was tempting to use these. Overall I love these designs. They feel like my own and I'm proud of the outcome. If I were to do this again I would try to play with thicker lines and cleaner edges.
