Rainy Day was inspired by the prompt "pot of gold at the end of the rainbow". I wanted to create a piece that was both happy and sad at the same time. The happiness would be represented by the pot of gold and rainbow, while the sadness would be represented by the dark raining clouds. On the ground, there is a mix of both rain and gold to represent the overlap along with the different weather patterns. These mixes of emotions also represent how I feel about art.

For this project, I started by outlining a sketch of what I wanted to draw in colored pencil. I then lightly traced the rainbow area with colored pencils( each color of the rainbow). I then drew in the pot with orange and red because I wanted it to look like a flower pot. I then took the gold marker and drew small little circles spilling out of the flower pot. I then created the cloud by using a black colored pencil. I tried to have each cloud a different color of grey/black so that there was variation. I then drew the raindrops with dark blue and overpassed the background with a light blue for the color of the sky. I created the sun with a basic yellow and had straight yellow rays at different distances coming off from it.

To finish I used a sharpie to create a deeper black in the clouds. I did this for a more dramatic effect. I also used a silver marker to add lines and small marks of shininess to the clouds, sun, and edge of the rainbow toward the top. Overall I am happy with my outcome. This is similar to what I had imagined in my brain that I wanted to create. I would definitely do this again in my free time.
