Water Color

Artist Statement

The Idea that guided my artwork was the organ and tissue donation. Many people don't know what this is nor know if they want to say yes to this or not when applying for their license. This is to encourage and educate many to click the box to say yes. This helps many people in our local and national areas. This is a movement to help spread awareness and create growth. I knew I wanted to create a positive message and water color spoke to me. I chose my font because i thought it was light and used negative space in a unique way. I also colored in the GROW to create a more bold effect that pushed contrast.

For this piece I used watercolor, graphite and fine point pen. Graphite is always a good base to start with to know what the structure of my work is going to look like. I then went in with watercolor because this is a very light material, which helps give off the effect I wanted. The fine point pen was used for the wording.

I started by sketching out my tree trunk and then make a general outline of the leaves and branches. I underlined an area of where I wanted my wording. I then went in with watercolor starting in the trunk, the darked part, moving to the leaves, then to the ground and then the sky. I then printed out the font I wanted and went to the light table to trace these to I go the intended effect. I used the fine point pen to trace and fill in the different letters. I then went back in with water color and added a heart because this is the sign thats on the lisense showing weather you clicked yes or no.
