For this sustained investigation, I wanted to focus on creating an environment around my design to make it more comprehensible, so I utilized two point perspective as well as the addition of some landscape and plants to set my design in scene. The environment was also important in underlining my inquiry question, as I wanted to focus on incorporating the horizontal and vertical elements of the surrounding landscape into the design, done by altering the orientation of the siding.

Though I generally used pen throughout all of my past investigations, I decided to try and alter the process and technique involved in this piece to experiment with a different style. By using string I was able to sketch a building in loose, two point perspective, and continue to layer on top with my pen.

Throughout this piece I sketched quite a bit prior to starting on my final paper, whether it be figuring out the perspective by playing with the string, positioning of the landscape, or experimenting with different pen strokes, this piece involved a lot of processes from start to finish. I also spent considerably more time on details such as the rocks and trees, since my past pieces have been less realistic and due to the simplicity of the design I wanted to create a more engaging environment. Also, figuring out the orientation of the trees and rocks was crucial in emphasizing the idea behind the design, so I experimented with what sort of perspective would work best to compliment both the design itself yet also the building. The creation of this piece itself on the final paper also involved much experimentation, especially in terms of figuring out techniques to draw the trees and rocks since I have never focused on such detailed, realistic subjects with pen.
