Digital

Artist Statement

For this piece, I ran out of time and so wanted to experiment with a new way of creating by trying digital drawing. Using a digital tool allowed me to experiment specifically with textures, which I want to focus on in a future work, whether it be working with grains of wood, sheets of metal, or grainy concrete surfaces to emphasize, contrast, or unify horizontal and vertical elements in my design. For this piece, I specifically wanted to try to use textures moving in the same direction as the elements of the residential design.

As a part of the Adobe Suite, I was able to access Adobe Fresco to experiment with digital work. A loose sketch originated on paper, yet through the digital layers I was able to sketch from two point perspective to a finished piece.

This piece truly lacked advanced thought and effort due to a lack of time and inspiration, so from beginning to end I really just wanted a piece I could present without being completely discontent with it. I found that the process drawing digitally for the style of work I was going for appealed less to me, however making use of bold, solid black blocks and rough textures appealed greatly to me and certainly provides me with a new way to approach future works.
