Midterm Prompt

In this assignment, we were handed a piece of paper with several circles on it, and were told to create something with it. This would help us stretch our creativity, and we were able to use any materials we wanted. I decided to draw an abstract view of outer space. When I saw the several circles, I first saw planets, and so I decided to continue with my abstract thought. I made each circle a planet in our solar system, while the rest I made black with stars

For this project I made it with colored pencil, charcoal, and white charcoal. I originally wanted to make it black and white, but decided it would be more appealing to include color, as well as stretch my ability as an artist to try new things.

I used color to create pattern as well as contrast. I made sure that most of the circles remained in black and grays so when I did add color, it would emphasis the planets. Pattern was clearly emphasizes in this piece because of the several circles required, but I made sure that pattern with the black circles, remained true. My project didn't really evolve, I went with what I saw and just went with that. If I had more time, I would probably go back and add more saturation into my drawing
