Duck Stamp

In this assignment, we had to create a "duck stamp" where we drew a scientifically made image from a choosing of various species of ducks, geese, and swans. I decided to choose the species of the Wood Duck, and drew a male and a female swimming in the water. I choose this species because I thought that the species were very pretty.

In this project, I used colored pencils to show off the beautiful colors of this species. I feel like the pencils allowed me to do the proper shading, and to give me the correct contour.

I used color and texture to represent both movement and contrast. By using color and texture, you can clearly distinguish the difference between the birds and the water. The movement of the water, and the texture of the birds, made with these two elements, also helps the visualizer know exactly what they're looking at. In this project, nothing evolved. Being able to have a direct subject to draw, helped me think of my idea quickly and efficiently. If I had more time, my next steps could be to go back and use more contrast and value. Although, I am satisfied with my piece.
