Art history inspired project

Benday dots

Acrylic paint

The ideas that are visually evident in my work is that I was inspired by movements in art history and the one I was mostly inspired by was pop art. I was originally going to do pointillism as my inspiration but I decided to change my mind and to have my work inspired by pop art. I was ultimately inspired by Roy Lichtenstein and the benday dots which I used on the masks. The project related to my life because I used a picture of my friend and I and then applied the art movement to the picture. I used canvas paper as the material the project was on. I also used graphite to sketch out the work and then acrylic paint to add color. I used color and value as my process for this project I covered the entire piece of paper in paint. I didn't want there to be negative space I wanted it to be all paint so all the white places is paint as well. My project evolved with the more paint I added and it became one whole piece. My next steps could be doing another version of it on wood or an actual canvas as opposed to just canvas paper
