Sketch
Before scratching
Before clear glaze
Final Sgraffito tile
To start I used the slab roller to roll out the piece of clay that I was going to use for this project. Once the clay was rolled out I cut the slab out of the clay which I had rolled out using a template. Then I let it dry. Once that was finished I used the underglaze Purple as the color and I glazed three coats on the tile. The tile was glazed for the first time afterwards and once it was finished, I used a scratching tool to scratch my design out which I had previously sketched out on a piece of paper the size of my tile. I went over it with a pen on top of the tile before it was fired to create the design. Once I scratched the design out I then clear glazed the tile using clear glaze. it was then glaze fired and then I took my final photos.
