To start my coil and carve projects I started out with some regular clay and I broke it up so I could start coiling those pieces. I then rolled out the strips of clay to make my coils with. Once that was finished I started coiling them around the base which I made by flattening out a piece of clay and then using a spray bottle to make the indents to determine how big my pot was going to be. I built up my pot using the coils to the size I wanted it to be and then I wrapped it up to let it become slightly harder so when I carved the pot later on it wouldn't be super wet and become sloppy. I then used a carving tool to carve out negative space as well as non-negative space. Once that was finished I let it stay out to dry and then it was fired in a bisque firing. Once that was done I used the glaze Cobalt to glaze the pot and I applied three coats of it. Once that was finished I let it dry and then finally it was fired in a glaze firing which completed the process.
