Finished construction

Glazed before firing

To start this project I started with a sketch of what I wanted to achieve during this project, and I picked a color palette, I wanted to use light yellows and pinks as well as green to create flowers and vines. Then I began construction, I used the coil technique to build the pot and then I used another larger coil to create the handle. For the spout I rolled a coil, cut it in half,  scraped away part of the inside, and attached the two pieces back together again, creating a hollow spout.  I created the handle using a simple coil and then I attached and smoothed it out to the side of my pot. On the handle and spout I wanted to create things that looked like vines, or stems on them so I rolled out a bunch of smaller coils and attached those to the spout and handle. I then rolled out a slab, and cut out flowers for the front, back and lid of my teapot. I made the lid also using a slab which I attached a little ball on top so I could open the teapot. Once the construction was done, I set it out to be bisque fired. When it came out of the kiln I realized the petals on the back and on the lid of the teapot had fallen off and were no longer there, so I was left working without those pieces. I then began glazing, I used mint, poppy, black, and yellow to glaze the pot, and I used three coats of each color. Then finally set it out to be glaze fired. (the project has not been glazed fired yet.)
