Ceramics 1

Out of all my ceramics projects I have done throughout the past semester the one I am the most proud of is my Historical coil pot because it tested my skill as an artist and it allowed me to learn more about how to work around problems and fix things that I didn't particularly like about the work I was creating. It also taught me new techniques and it taught me my overall favorite way to create ceramic pots. I learned how to work quickly but also thoughtfully in order to keep the clay from drying out. I learned that coils dry incredibly fast and in order to work with them you have to be speedy but also not speedy. I learned how to find a balance pace of working with clay to make this project.

This class has changed the way I think about ceramics in the sense that I now know how difficult it can be to make something work and even how difficult it can be to come up with ideas to base the work off of. I now have more appreciation than I already had for ceramic artists because of how long the process can be but now I also know how rewarding it can be to finish something you worked really hard on. Because of this class and what I have accomplished in it I now look at ceramics work in everyday life and wonder how it was created and I have a new found appreciation for it.

Overall, I don't have any recommendations for ways the class could be improved. I really enjoyed taking this class and I felt everything was really well explained, and the layout of everything worked really well for me.
