Borestone Primary School has the Rights Respecting Schools Silver Award and are constantly working to increase opportunities for our children to enact their rights. We aim to take a rights-aware approach to all aspects of our work by upholding and promoting the rights of all children as set out in the United Nations Convention for the Rights of the Child (UNCRC).
In Borestone Primary School, you will notice that:
We are explicitly embedding the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child in its policy, practice and culture.
We are promoting knowledge and understanding of the Convention throughout our school community.

October 2024 update
We have elected a new group of Children's Rights Defenders. Our job is to work with the adults to make sure every ones rights are protected. And WE can work with lots of people to learn more about rights. This year we will try to speak to duty bearers. These people that help include: Scottish Ministers, Scottish Government officials ,local authority staff, teachers, social workers, health workers, such as doctors and nurses, police officers.
We are putting into action and developing the plans outlined on our Action Plan for Silver,
We are beginning to see the positive impact of these actions on children and young people, staff, and on the school’s ethos, practice and environment.
Children and young people are beginning to see themselves as rights respecting global citizens and advocates for fairness and children’s rights, both locally and globally.
