NOVEMBER
What a busy term we have been having. We have been working very hard on our targets and we really loved having those of you who could make it, in to see all our hard work so far.
We learned all about remembrance day and poppies. We looked at poppy fields and re created our own using wax resist and watercolours. We thought carefully about the colours that would blend together and stand out in our paintings.
We have been working so hard on our writing and creating our own talk 4 writing stories based around Jack and the Robbers. We have been using our story maps to help retell the story and innovating the text with our own characters and places.
We have been learning all about the water cycle and the words, evaporatation, condensation and precipitation. We have been thinking about all the different ways we use water everyday and how we can conserve it. We have also been finding out about water sources and how these feed into our water supply.
This term we will be focussing on addition and subtraction strategies. We will be able to use number bonds and place value to add and subtract a 1 or 2 digit number from a 3 digit number. We will be learning the part, part , whole method as well as learning how to use an empty number line and partitioning to help us.
We will also be learning about Time this term, and will be learning to tell the time using half past, quarter to and quarter past, in both analogue and digital form.
This term in talking and listening we will be reading the novel Fing by David Walliams as a class. We will be able to say and show what respectful listening looks like and respond appropriately to questions based on our novel.
In writing we will be focussing on using different sentence openers, be able to use connectives in sentences as well as make and use notes to help us to structure our writing clearly with a begginning , middle and end.
Our IDL for this term is water. We will be finding out about the different ways we use water, how to preserve water and how the Water cycle works.
We will look at different sources of water around the world and how important water is in our daily lives.
We will also be looking at the diferent states of water, boiling, freezing, melting and linking this to solids, liquids and gases in science.
