Designed to develop reading fluency and build children’s confidence, the ELS Fluency programme sits alongside phonics teaching. Its combination of reading modelling, guided practice, regular assessment and clear next steps all work to help every child become a fluent reader — and its impact has been verified by one of the world’s foremost fluency specialists. Professor Timothy Rasinski, a leading expert in reading fluency, has recognised the quality of ELS Fluency.
Talk for Writing is a framework that is used to deliver writing lessons based on the principles of how children learn. Children are able to imitate the language that they need for a particular genre of writing orally, before reading and understanding the features of the genre. Children are then able to write their own version of the story.
Bug Club Comprehension is a guided reading programme that centres around one text for the whole class and uses a talk-based approach to develop a deeper understanding of texts, regardless of a learner's decoding ability.
Bug Club follows a structured teaching cycle, with meaningful activities every day, by teaching comprehension strategies, to support an in-depth and consistent focus on comprehension.
