R.W.I. is a synthetic phonics programme that we use with learners from P1 to P3 and beyond when required. We deliver daily phonics lessons to develop children's reading - from decoding to fluency and writing - from letter formation and spelling to writing their own pieces. We use assessment and tracking of children's learning to help teachers to analyse individual children's reading progress and plan the next steps.
Talk for Writing is a framework that is used to deliver writing lessons based on the principles of how children learn. Children are able to imitate the language that they need for a particular genre of writing orally, before reading and understanding the features of the genre. Children are then able to write their own version of the story.
Bug Club Comprehension is a guided reading programme that centres around one text for the whole class and uses a talk-based approach to develop a deeper understanding of texts, regardless of a learner's decoding ability.
Bug Club follows a structured teaching cycle, with meaningful activities every day, by teaching comprehension strategies, to support an in-depth and consistent focus on comprehension.
