We celebrate learning and progress of all our learners. We are an inclusive school aiming to support all learners to learn, participate and flourish. All teachers have a responsibility for providing learning opportunities that are differentiated to meet learner needs. Stirling Council's staged intervention process ensures we involve children, parents/ carers and supporting partner agencies (where required) in decision making and providing effective support for those who need it.
Our support for learning teacher aims to provide targeted support, teaching and assessment for identified children. Children’s learning and development is further advanced by advice to colleagues, in-class support, team teaching, small group tuition and individual programmes.
Parents are invited to work in partnership with the school, contributing to educational learning plans through the staged intervention process. Regular contact is encouraged at Parents’ Evenings throughout the academic year, as well as planned individual meetings as required. Support for Learning staff meet regularly with class teachers and the relevant depute head teacher who has the overview of children accessing support for learning for their respective year groups.
A positive attitude towards personal accountability, promoting pupil involvement in setting targets for learning and self-evaluation is fostered. A keen focus on Getting it Right for Every Child and the wellbeing indicators helps guide planning and decision making so all our learners can thrive.
We work collaboratively with a range of professional agencies including Educational Psychologists, School Nurses, Social work teams, Family Wellbeing Team, NHS Forth Valley and third sector partners.
This is an open invitation to all parents/carers of children (2-18) with additional support needs, to support the work of the ASL Parent and Carer Reference Group.
