21. The Postal History of the City of York

The publication of the above was first raised at the AGM of the Society on 12th May 1958, and despite many displays over the years of York Philatelic History material, it was not until late 2003 that such a book was published and then only up to 1900. It was the 24th publication of the Yorkshire Postal History Society written by Mr D B Russell, with contribution from York Society members Messer’s E Lofthouse, A Dent and to quote “C Rutter who did so much of the initial information gathering and whose considerable support has been most welcome.”

As the York Philatelic Society enters the 21st Century it looks forward to the publication of the Postal History of the City of York during the 20th Century!
