Location
If you are arriving by car:
If you do not have access to the Internet and an onboard GPS and are arriving via the A64 the following may help:
To find us coming from the A64 exit at the York A1036 exit and follow the signs for York. You will see the Tesco Supermarket on your left after York College on your right. Take the turn into ther Supermarket. Parking is free.
Enter the Supermarket and ahead and slightly to the right is the escalator to the first floor - take this. At the top you want to be going back the way the escalator came to a room in the right hand corner - that is our meeting room.
To find us coming through York take the A1036 towards Tadcaster, follow Tadcaster Road until you come to the Askham Bar Roudabout - you will see signs for the Tesco Supermarket at the roundabout.
Arriving by train:
York Station is on the main East Coast line from London Kings Cross to Edinburgh. All trains going North and South stop at York. There are also lines to Scarborough and Manchester. If you are arriving by train we advise you take a taxi from the Station - ask for "Tesco Supermarket Askham Bar". Alternatively you can cross the road at the front of the Station and catch any of the following buses - all of which stop at Askham Bar Tesco: 3, 12.
Parking:
There is plenty of free parking at the supermarket including disabled spaces.
Facilities:
There is disabled access to the room used. Coffee and Tea making facilities are available and a refreshments break is usually taken during each meeting. The room is well lit, warm and comfortable. Room acoustics are good and we have not yet had the need for a microphone and amplifier system.
Display Boards:
The Society has 8 display boards each capable of holding two rows of 12 sheets in 3 rows of 4 sheets each. These provide a maximum display capacity of 96 sheets at any one time. A display given in two halves can therefore include up to 192 sheets.
Timing:
Meetings start at 7.15pm with a short meeting. The display typically starts at around 7.30pm. A short break is usually taken mid way through the display.
