WAG methodology

The main steps to build a game with WAG are the following :

Project selection and framing

Choosing a case study, specifying the main issue, the stakes and constraints.

Results in a frame of reference that will be used all along the process

System cartography

Mapping hydrological elements, water users and their activity zones

Game elements description

Defining roles (actions, objectives), events, scenarisation and monitoring elements

Verification

Checking that the game corresponds to the frame of reference

Checking that necessary materiel and data are available

Calibration

Quantifying water tokens and hydrological fluxes,  actions, roles objectives and events

Production

Producing cards and necessary water elements

Collecting and organising water and resource tokens

Producing monitoring and scenario boards

Game Session

Organising the session, animating the session, debriefing the session.

Of course developing a game is not a linear process and these guidelines might be used as an iterative checking list.

WAG design protocol was established with the contribution of the bachelor thesis work of Heleen De Fooij.
