Puppet Play

Truthfulness Puppet Play   © Jenny Jenkins 2015     https://sites.google.com/site/valueslessons  Each puppet play on this website uses the same 3 puppets. Only 2 are needed for this play. Use 'Muppet' TM type puppets with mouths you can open from inside, 1 larger headed mother, and 2 boys, one good and one naughty. Rename them, perhaps for their colour.

Puppet theatre: drape a piece of fabric or a sheet over a tight piece of string between 2 chairs or in an open doorway, or duck down behind a long sofa or couch.

Preparation: bubble mix, balloon. Have a student blow a balloon up during the play, one puff each time Blue lies.

(Blue and Mum pop up.)

Mum  What happened to the last piece of chocolate cake? I was keeping it for Dad.

Blue  I don’t know

Mum  But it was there just a minute ago.

Blue  Yellow probably ate it (student blows balloon)

Mum  He’s at rugby practice.

Blue  Dad must have eaten it. (blow)

Mum  He’s late home tonight. You’re the only one here.

Blue ‘I saw the dog run outside. He must’ve eaten it. (blow balloon.)

Mum  The dog’s tied up.

Blue  Oh.

Mum  Open your mouth and let me see how clean your teeth are.

Blue  I can’t, it’s sore. It hurts when I open it (blow)

Mum  Then how did you eat that apple when you got home?

Blue  Well, I was okay then. But it had a bee on it and it stung my lip (blow)

Mum  Open your mouth or I’ll tell your father.

Blue opens his mouth quickly.

Mum  If you didn’t eat that piece of cake, then how come you’ve got brown on your teeth?

Blue  I had a piece of chocolate on my way home. My friend gave it to me.’(blow)

Mum  Then how come the brown didn’t clean off when you ate the apple?

Blue  It was a brown apple. It was rotten. (blow)

Mum  The only rotten thing is your lies. Come to the bathroom. I’m going to wash your mouth out with soap.

Blue  No! Please don’t! I’m sorry I lied. I’ll tell the truth.

Mum  Yes?

Blue  I ate it. I didn’t mean to. I had to. It's your fault! You shouldn’t have left it sitting there looking at me.

Mum  Come on Blue… bathroom. Now!

Blue  Nooo! You know how much I hate soap!

Mum  Not as much as I hate lies. Move!

Blue  Help! I’ll get poisoned. I’ll die. (both pop down) Aggggh! (bubbles fly up)
