Tassenberg

I had some "Tassies" the other day (just for shits and giggles!) to try and see what the rave was all about when I was a student. This wine has a very fruity nose (red fruit), and the smell reminds me more of red grape juice than of wine. Taste is a bit one-sided with lots of red fruit combined with lots of acid. Not much tannins to speak of. Interestingly this wine is made so cheaply because of the use of the Cinsault variety in the blend, which has some very large bunches and berries, giving a very high yield.
