This wine was bought before the birth of our first child, to be enjoyed after her birth as celebration. That puts quite a bit of pressure on it to shine on the occasion.
Opening this blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinotage and Merlot reveals a nice and strong nose of fruit (red fruit and berries), along with generous oak. Its colour is a deep red with amber rim, showing some of its age. This wine really delivers on the palate, with nice acidity together with very firm but elegant tannins. Flavours of fruit and oak, with a very long tail to follow. Judging from the amount and quality of tannins, this wine could easily have benefited from even more aging, even though it is already very silky.
Definitely up to its task for the occasion, and a very good celebration of our child's birth! This definitely goes onto the "favourites" list!
