Kaapzicht Bin 3 2006

I recently bought a box of this, thinking it was the 2007. After opening the first bottle I was glad that it was the 2006 (and hence had an extra year of aging). This Merlot/Cabernet Sauvignon blend is really good value for money, and one of my favourite everyday drinking reds. Slightly woody on the nose, with rich berries and a bit of alcohol. Tasting gives you a mouthful of berries, some oak, and a bit of tannins and acid. Slightly more savoury than the '07. Very nice tail of berries and oak, with just a little bit of bite at the end coming from the merlot.

Tasted October 2009
