Mellasat "E" 2008

This surprising little number has us baffled at Winex 2009 when the Winemaker asked us to venture guess to what varietal/s it is made of. Little did we know that this was in fact a blanc de noir made from the Pinotage grape. This wine is pale straw coloured with just a very faint hint of pinkness when held to the light (but not pink like a rosé, just barely visible). On the nose this wine delivers with a very fruity character, pineapple and some light vanilla. It is slightly sweet on the tongue, with a very fruity and soft taste. Tastes of slight oaking pineapple, vanilla and coconut (faintly). A shortish tail.
