Rustenberg Brampton Cabernet Sauvignon 2007

This was one of the major disappointments for me for this month. I was really expecting a lot from this wine, as the 2005 vintage was a 4 star (Platter) Cabernet Sauvignon, for about the price of a 2 or 3 star wine. I am of the opinion that this wine was either "off", or distinctly an "acquired taste", or changed a lot since 2005. It tasted faintly of berries, but predominantly smelled and tasted like perhaps wild figs, or some sort of cactus. This taste did not appeal to neither me, nor my guests for whom I opened this bottle. I will try another bottle again sometime in the future to see if perhaps the bottle I had was "off", though it would take some time to muster up the courage as this has left me with quite a low opinion of the wine...
