Diemersfontein Heaven's Eye 2007

I had been interested in how this wine would taste ever since I bought it, especially since it is made up of a few wine varieties that I had not previously tasted. This Bordeaux style blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot, Shiraz and Roobernet, was quite a mix of the known and the unknown, hence I was hesitant to pour it to a few friends. This wine from Diemersfontein was, however, much more than adequate for the occasion, and went down really well. A good mix of spice and fruit, but also a very faint refreshing taste of mint that lingers at the end. This wine has great colour (rich plum purple) and is satisfying on the nose. A bit lighter than just a Cabernet Sauvignon, and could be drank really just about anytime. Very very nice blend.
