Food for Friends Donations/Letters

The Food for Friends subcommittee is collecting letters to send to New York's community kitchen and monetary donations for local food banks.


Date: Google Form must be filled out by Wednesday, March 17th. The monetary donation drop-off Thursday, April 15th from 4:00 pm to 5:30 pm.


Hours: For every 1 letter you send and $5 you donate, you will receive 1 service hour.


Location: The drop-off will be held at South Brunswick High School. Enter from the Stouts Lane Entrance and pull up to the front of the building to drop off your donation.


Instructions:

Send a letter to support New York’s community kitchen. Make an impact during these challenging times by writing letters that will be included in pantry emergency bags for people in need.


There are a few parts to this service project:

  1. First, you have to write the desired amount of letters (maximum: 3), and then send them in to this address:

Take two pictures to prove that you sent these letters: one picture of the actual letters, and a second picture of you putting these letters into your mailbox. Attach these photos to the appropriate part of the attached Google Form.


Once you mail out your letter, email volunteer@foodbanknyc.org with the following information: (1) number of notes sent; (2) return address included on envelope; (3) date of postmark.


  1. Follow our Instagram, @foodforfriends2021, and take a screenshot of the page showing you are following to submit for proof as well.


  1. Complete the google form below.

  1. On March 18, you will have to drop off the desired amount of money ($5 dollars per letter you send) at the main entrance.

  1. If you don’t have an Instagram be sure to complete an alternative assignment which is to write one more additional letter and submit a picture of the additional letter you wrote.

Strikes:

  • If you confirm that you are coming, but do not come to the event, you WILL NOT receive hours and WILL get a strike against you.

  • If you cancel later than 2 days before the drop-off, you will receive a strike against you.

  • Keep in mind that if you receive 3 strikes, your name will be removed from the Membership Directory and you will not receive credit for this club.
