All of the subcommittee descriptions below are merely outlines, and the details and the direction of each subcommittee can (and should!) be further developed by its leaders.
1. Students Against Stress: This subcommittee aims to help young adults cope with stress from their personal as well as academic lives by providing mental health care packages. The specific contents of these packages are up to your discretion.
2. Care for Community: Care for Community is a subcommittee that was created with the goal of helping our local community. It is a combination of our past subcommittees, Food for Friends and Hands for Homeless. The focus of this subcommittee could be helping different local homeless shelters, old age homes, and food pantries. The specifics of how you will help these local communities are up to your subcommittee.
3. Help for Health: This subcommittee was created with the idea of helping those who are unfortunately suffering with different health disorders. Those on this subcommittee can work towards whichever direction they feel, with some possible goals being disease awareness or helping those suffering from chronic illness.
4. Earn for Earth: Earn for Earth is a subcommittee designed to tackle any issues regarding climate change and environmental issues. Earn for Earth is pretty unrestricted, but make sure that service projects have to do with the climate/environment. In this subcommittee, you could have a variety of projects such as spreading awareness, hurricane relief, and clean-up volunteer events.
5. Act for Activism: Act for Activism focuses on spreading awareness about different social and political issues within our community. In this subcommittee, you could create service projects in regard to activism. This subcommittee could range from helping underprivileged areas to political/social action.
6. Animal Allies: Animal Allies is another returning subcommittee that was created with the goal of helping our furry friends. Though they do not have a voice of their own, it is important that we cherish them and give them the love that they deserve. This subcommittee’s focus can be helping a wide variety of animals who are in need, including sea animals that are suffering from changing environmental conditions, wild animals, and pets.
Subcommittee leaders' responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- managing the subcommittee's activities (calling organizations, scheduling volunteer events, etc.)
- preparing for service projects at monthly membership meetings (shopping for supplies, organizing materials)
- updating the advisors & executive board regarding progress
