Duffy's Tavern Errors Page 4
Notes on Old Schoolteacher Visits:
There are 2 versions of Old Schoolteacher Visits that used very similar scripts. In show #1, Archie answers the telephone, "I've finally caught the guy putting buttons in the telephone slot". The final question of the mock game show was "Which way will Italy go?" I have no reliable date for this episode. I have seen a date of 44-01-18, but on that date Lauritz Melchior was the guest star and he is not on this show. 2014 update - According to Martin Grams' new book on Duffy's Tavern, the show is from 46-01-18.
In show #2, Archie answers the telephone, "I sound a little tired". The final question of the mock game show was "Which way will Yugoslavia go?" This show is from 51-12-14.
Notes on Charles Coburn:
There are 2 very similar shows starring Charles Coburn..
The 43-11-02 show opens with the line "Tonight, Charles Coburn. Charles! Coburn. Now, Duffy don't hang up. So one week it ain't a dame. How's business? Well, we are running ahead of yesterday. Huh? We were closed yesterday."
The 49-05-04 show opens with the line "Tonight, Charles Coburn. Charles Coburn. Now, Duffy don't hang up. Alright so one week it ain't a dame. Huh? You never heard of Coburn?"
Notes on New Waiter / Waiter Quits:
There are two show involving a waiter quitting, and Maxie Rosenbloom becoming the new waiter.
45-11-09 Eddie Leaves and Maxie Rosenbloom comes in at the end
51-02-23 Arthur Treacher leaves and Maxie Rosenbloom comes in at the end
51-04-13 This date is sometimes given for shows involving Maxie Rosenbloom as the new waiter, but according to the log, it should be "New Floor Show." I don't believe the real 51-04-13 has surfaced.
