Aviation should bring on the most qualified people regardless of race, gender, or ideology, that is true diversity. With DEI however certain groups of people are given preference over others to meet a diversity quota. This meet the quota of demographic by excluding more qualified individuals that don't meet DEI criteria is putting the safety of the skies at risk. One example is airtraffic controllers, while non- minorites are put through the ringer and heaven forbit were tagged with ADHD decades ago in elementary school, they are sent to the FAA hired gun quacks that are forced to take the Cogscreen and are subjectively graded to fail. If you fall under DEI criteria, you are asked questions that are eaiser to answer than what toppings you want on your cheeseburger at McDonalds or Burger King. https://youtu.be/6byj8jfZYRA?si=3-v3OL_uX30T75oA Keep in mind on top of the Safety risk this also violates the 14th Amendment Equal Protection Clause with this double standard. The fact that needless grounding espericed air traffic controllers is causing such a large staffing shortage, new ATC hires are not even sent through the FAA Academy. https://simpleflying.com/faa-to-let-new-atc-skip-academy/ How is this making the skies safer?
Tim Pool expands on this further by stating that Boeing is pushing DEI qoutas over qualification leading to the designing and manfuaturing of sub-standard aitcraft culminating with the 737 Max. Tim Pool also pointed out that a United Airlines flight attendant who was fired and put on the "do not rehire list" was then rehired on as a first officer, was still allowed to bid for routes after having numerious training failures and was involved in a landing that damaged the plain so much it lead to a "hull loss"https://youtu.be/caoF-xq02EM?si=FB9XrcnhRXAMIC4b. Tim Pool would claim this is killing the cival aviation industry and forcing remote communications in place of traveling to in person meetings along with driving the cost of flying up.
NBC News picked up that Elon Musk has posted on X (formally known as Twitter) his concerns about DEI taking priority over safety. https://www.nbcnews.com/news/amp/rcna133351
Elon Musk himself is a rated pilot as well as the principal shareholder of SpaceX, the firm that broke the 9 year drought on American Launch Providers sending astronauts into space. In fact SpaceX's cheif Amrican compettior Boeing has as of Janaury 2024 yet to launch Astronauts on it's Starliner Spacecraft due to long standing safety issues that have not plauged SpaceX which does not priortize DEI over safety unlike Boeing.
This was echoed by Horace Cooper who appeared on The Ingraham Angle on Fox New in a segment titled This dalliance between safety and DEI can kill https://www.foxnews.com/video/6344585173112
This was further elaborated on Fox Business where it was stated that Boeing corporate incentive plans went from rewarding quality safety engineering to rewarding DEI and climate targets. Steve Moore went on to say do people want to get on aircraft and think, Was the pilot hired because they were the most qualified or were they hired because they fit a DEI quota.
Appererntly there has been a lawsuit bouncing around the courts involving a individual that was working towards a career of being an air traffic controller, but then was forced to take a test that has a 90% failure rate because he did not fall under DEI criteria. This lawsuit has demonstrated that there has been a long history of subjectively graded cognative assements by the FAA, The FAA has faced pressure to diversify the air traffic control for generations, something that seems to have influenced even the scoring structure of the AT-SAT cognitive test used for pre-employment screening of air traffic control candidates. What is of interest is that the FAA admits the Cogscreen eliminates most candiates, but they claim it only eliminates "black canidates" as an excuse to not require DEI criteria candidates from taking the Cogscreen. In 2012, Team 7 members met with the secretary of the Department of Transportation, the FAA administrator, and senior FAA leaders to discuss diversity, after which the FAA commissioned a "Barrier Analysis" with a number of recommendations. Central to this: the cognitive test posed a barrier for black candidates, so they recommended using a biographical test first to "maximiz[e] diversity," eliminating the vast majority of candidates prior to any cognitive test. This is actually a racist position taken by the FAA claiming that DEI candidates are inferior to non-DEI candidates and thus don't have to take the rigged cognitive assessment even though non DEI Caucasian candidates would do just as bad on the assessments.
Truth is the FAA is revoking slots for non-DEI candidates to make room for DEI candidates that have no business being pilots or air traffic controllers but are forced into said positions to meet diversity qoutas. Even this industry publication admits this process is dumb. https://viewfromthewing.com/diversity-in-the-skies-faas-controversial-shift-in-air-traffic-controller-hiring/
Daliy Caller being a conservative publication takes a more direct approach outright attacking DEI https://dailycaller.com/2024/01/29/dei-airlines-planes-boeing/
The title Yes DEI will make more planes fall out of the sky does not hold back any punches. It calls out the FAA DEI policy of sacrificing safety and profifts to meet an artifically set diversity quota.
