An article recently uncovered that was published by the CDC in June 2020 states in black and white the side-effects of wearing a mask, specifically the masks trapping carbon dioxide or CO2. The article states the masks cause breathing resistance could result in a reduction in the frequency and depth of breathing, known as hypoventilation and that as little as a hour of wearing a mask. The article further went onto elaborate of the side-effects of increased CO2 concentrations in the mask wearer that include:
Headache;
Increased pressure inside the skull;
Nervous system changes (e.g., increased pain threshold, reduction in cognition – altered judgement, decreased situational awareness, difficulty coordinating sensory or cognitive, abilities and motor activity, decreased visual acuity, widespread activation of the sympathetic nervous system that can oppose the direct effects of CO2 on the heart and blood vessels);
Increased breathing frequency;
Increased “work of breathing”, which is result of breathing through a filter medium;
Cardiovascular effects (e.g., diminished cardiac contractility, vasodilation of peripheral blood vessels);
Reduced tolerance to lighter workloads.
Cognitive loss caused by COVID masks trapping CO2 where according to a Harvard Study breathing in as little as 945 PPM of CO2 lowers cognitive ability 15% and at 1400 PPM of CO2 cognitive ability reduces by 50%. Apparently facial recognition has also been reduced What is also disturbing is not only the brain damage that is caused by the masks, but the adverse cardiovascular effects on the heart and lungs along with the reduction of blood sugar and dehydration. Are the long term health effects caused my the masks not only the potential of early onset dementia, but also congestive heart failure and diabetes?
It should also be taken into account that any cognitive assessment especially the overly sensitive Cogscreen AE taken wearing a facemask will result in artificially worse cognitive result than the test takers test taking actual cognitive ability, especially with 1400 PPM of CO2 breathed in lowers cognitive ability by 50%
A study published in the NIH April 2021 also shows that masks do trap CO2 leading to adverse effects, especially in children. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC8072811/#!po=71.3462
These perceived interferences of integrity, self-determination and autonomy, coupled with discomfort, often contribute to substantial distraction and may ultimately be combined with the physiologically mask-related decline in psycho-motoric abilities, reduced responsiveness and an overall impaired cognitive performance. It leads to misjudging situations as well as delayed, incorrect and inappropriate behavior and a decline in the effectiveness of the mask wearer
All of this and there is mounting evidence that the masks do nothing to stop the spread of COVID https://www.city-journal.org/do-masks-work-a-review-of-the-evidence?wallit_nosession=1
This is corroborated by a Nov 2021 Brown University study that showed the mask mandate in children caused their cognitive test scores to drop 23%
Sept 2021 study published in the NIH https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC8461071/ Shows increased CO2 concentrations to the mask wearer and stated in the conclusion, Wearing surgical masks during aerobic exercise showed certain negative impacts on cardiopulmonary function, especially during high-intensity exercise in healthy young subjects. These results provide an important recommendation for wearing a mask at a pandemic during exercises of varying intensity. Future research should focus on the response of wearing masks in patients with related cardiopulmonary diseases
Study from Morgan Stanley Children's Hospital of New York-Presbyterian, USA https://clinmedjournals.org/articles/jide/journal-of-infectious-diseases-and-epidemiology-jide-6-130.php Prolonged use of N95 and surgical masks by healthcare professionals during COVID-19 has caused adverse effects such as headaches, rash, acne, skin breakdown, and impaired cognition in the majority of those surveyed.
Chronic wearing of facemasks is linked to not only increased CO2 concentrations in the blood but also reduced oxygen blood saturation which leads to cognitive loss https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC7844352/
This study shows that the masks can lead to accelerated cognitive loss in older adults https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC8418138/
A large study was planned to test the adverse effects such as cognitive loss caused by the masks but was blocked from happening due to the CDC https://clinicaltrials.gov/ct2/show/NCT04670484
The evidence is so overwhelming of the adverse cognitive effects there has been a nationwide push to get masks mandates repealed in schools. NPR admits that masks can interfere with brain development https://www.npr.org/2022/01/28/1075842341/growing-calls-to-take-masks-off-children-in-school CBC is reporting that "masks are messing with our brains" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k3zsqohY76Y This is also echoed in The Atlantic https://www.theatlantic.com/ideas/archive/2022/01/kids-masks-schools-weak-science/621133/ University of Southern California https://healthpolicy.usc.edu/article/mandatory-masking-of-school-children-is-a-bad-idea/
