Fabian Has Since Further Exaggerated or  Fabricated His Credentials 

Since this trial in 2018 Fabian has further exaggerated if not outright fabricated his credentials.

In 2023 Fabian stated something different regarding Case Western University at the sentencing phase of former WWE talent Tammy "Sunny" Sytch.  At 12 min 7 sec https://www.youtube.com/live/g_Gxh1zbqAQ?si=fue8ZEzvv6o5rY00&t=727   He claims he went to Case Western Reserve School of Medicine, NOT THE LAW SCHOOL and claimed he attended the fellowship program in forensic psychiatry.  Fabian does not mention the Law School at all and so this does not line up with his previous published bio.  

The lies on the resume continue, It states, Dr. Fabian has faculty appointments at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston McGovern Medical School Department Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences Forensic Psychiatry Fellowship Training Program and at the Forensic Psychology Postdoctoral Fellowship, Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, Center for Forensic Behavioral Science.  A quick check of the McGovern Medical School Department Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences faculty directory shows no evidence that John Matthew Fabian currently has a faculty appointment with the medical school. https://med.uth.edu/psychiatry/about-us/faculty-listing/  A further search of the website shows no evidence that Fabian ever had an affiliation with the medical school.  In fact Fabian states on the stand during STAVE V GRATE that he was on the faculty of University of Texas San Antonio Medical School and makes no references to UT Houston.  7 min 48 sec https://youtu.be/0jnndclBzPM?t=468  A quick check shows no dice for Fabian on the faculty of UT San Antonio either https://directory.uthscsa.edu/university/faculty/f?school=1&institute=All&program=All&dept=All&research_areas=All&research_topics=All  

This type of credential fabrication violates Texas Law due to the law school fabrication and may in fact also further violate Texas Law if extended fabricated academic faculty appointments fall under the same vein as fabricated degrees..

Sec. 32.52.  FRAUDULENT, SUBSTANDARD, OR FICTITIOUS DEGREE.  (a)  In this section, "fraudulent or substandard degree" has the meaning assigned by Section 61.302, Education Code.

(b)  A person commits an offense if the person:

(1)  uses or claims to hold a postsecondary degree that the person knows:

(A)  is a fraudulent or substandard degree;

(B)  is fictitious or has otherwise not been granted to the person; or

(C)  has been revoked; and

(2)  uses or claims to hold that degree:

(A)  in a written or oral advertisement or other promotion of a business; or

(B)  with the intent to:

(i)  obtain employment;

(ii)  obtain a license or certificate to practice a trade, profession, or occupation;

(iii)  obtain a promotion, a compensation or other benefit, or an increase in compensation or other benefit, in employment or in the practice of a trade, profession, or occupation;

(iv)  obtain admission to an educational program in this state; or

(v)  gain a position in government with authority over another person, regardless of whether the actor receives compensation for the position.

(c)  An offense under this section is a Class B misdemeanor.

(d)  If conduct that constitutes an offense under this section also constitutes an offense under any other law, the actor may be prosecuted under this section or the other law.

Once again Fabian makes no reference to Walter Reed Hospital on the stand of STATE V GRATE. 

His claims of being the former director of a state court psychiatric clinic and  currently serves as a county court psychologist and

Fabian did  NOT list actual dates nor are places named and the claims are intentional vague so it's impossible if these claims are real.  These are huge RED FLAGS.

In fact something as innocuous as claiming to give a presentation at the University of Texas at Austin Law School on February 16, 2023 is apparently fabricated.  Searching UT Law School's event calander which include the archives shows no results for John Mathew Fabian https://law.utexas.edu/calendar/search/  and the only "John Fabian" result is of an event with John Fabian Witt of the Yale Law School from October 12, 2022 https://law.utexas.edu/calendar/2012/10/01/14413/  In fact nothing comes up for John Matthew Fabian on UT Law's general search of its website.

This is not the only instance that the someone tied to a high ranking position has misrepresented if not outrighted fabricated their credentials.  In June 2025 Politico highlighted the fact that Bryan Bedford, President Trump's first nomination of permanent FAA administrator of his second term claimed to have earned a commercial pilot rating when in fact as of that publication he only earned a private pilot rating. https://www.politico.com/news/2025/06/15/trumps-faa-pick-has-claimed-commercial-pilot-license-he-doesnt-have-00406090 If the potential next FAA Administrator is fabricating credentials, then one must ask how many people within the FAA are doing the exact same thing.
