FAA Admits That Cogscreen Creator Worked With The Russians to Validate Test

At the Dec 6, 2023 NTSB Safety Summit and Roundtable specifically regarding aeromedical reform regarding mental health of pilots and air traffic controllers, FAA representative Dr. Penny Geovanetti DO who is not a medical doctor but a doctor of osteopathic medicine admitted a major bombshell, that Gary Kay worked with The Russians during the creation of the test back in 1987 and Kay claimed that, "Working with the Russians validated the test."  This was in response to numerous people on the panel including the Vice Chair of the NTSB Bruce Landsberg questioning the validity of the cognitive tests and view flight simulators would be a better judge of a pilots cognitive ability and aeronautical decision making.  It should also be noted in previous statements by Deputy Federal Air Surgeon Dr.Brent Wyrick  (who was not in attendance) stated if you can pass an instrument checkride, you are mentally fit to fly and should be granted a medical with regards to ADHD.  This link starts at 18 min 54 seconds.  https://youtu.be/j8olppsIsdY?si=lUvPwQsExj2SF0Bg&t=1134 Where the Cogscreen is criticized for having no correlation to actual real world aeronautical decision making and that the only test that would give actual valid results is either flying in a simulator or an actual airplane. https://youtu.be/j8olppsIsdY?si=Mc58UXUYyT9Z0VVR&t=1201   with Dr. Geovanetti's admission bombshell coming at around the 20 min mark


In 1987 "The Russians" meant the Communist Soviet Union.  Why would Dr. Gary Kay be working with the USSR at the climax of the Cold War to develop a test that as Senior HIMS AME Dr. Brent Blue has stated, "is a singular on/off switch" as to if a pilot or air traffic controller gets their medicals revoked?  It sure see that the USSR would want as many pilots grounded and air traffic controllers out of work to cripple the US Airspace System grinding transportation and commerce to a crawl or outright halt to collapse the US economy, especially since this was the USSR's last gasp before the fall of the Iron Curtain.  As such The Russians "validated the test" it sure seems that the Cogscreen was meant to be a Trojan Horse Cold War weapon to ensure the test to be rigged to fail as many US pilots and air traffic controllers as possible.

This shows the subjectively graded Cogscreen tests have nothing to do with safety and are really about creating a cottage industry that holds pilots hostage for as much money can be squeezed out of them by dangling the hope with no guarantee of getting their medicals back.  Far from it, these trapped pilots are subjectively graded as fails in order to keep them in hostage indefinitely.   It's time to let the safest pilots have their unrestricted medicals back without any strings attached and to put these mental health quacks cottage industry of holding pilots hostage out of business.
