On February 4, 2014, I interviewed Lý Tớ Sải 李德才, a 45-year-old Red Gelao (va³⁵dei²¹) man in La Pao, Bạch Đích commune, Hà Giang province, Vietnam. Ly was illiterate, and was more fluent in Southwestern Mandarin (Yunnanese) than in Vietnamese. His speech slightly differed from that of Jerold Edmondson's Red Gelao informant.
