HISTORY
Hupasiya is the current Hatti King.
When all the other lands were empty, were lived on our plateau. Other peoples have come and gone with their strange languages and customs, but we are eternal. In the beginning, the universe was without form. From the nothingness, the eternal night the law and chaos mixed to create Kumarbi. For an age Kumarbi contemplated the void, the whirling aether of the heavens. Then he decided he wished to discuss his thoughts on the void with another. So he gathered the Aethers and created Hannahanna. Kumarbi and Hannahanna talked. And they thought of what the future should bring. So they came up with a plan.
First Kumarbi and Hannahanna sculpted the aether into the heavens and earth. Then they sculpted the people, places and things. Finally they decided they desired true children - thus did Hannahanna give birth to the Gods of Man and Beasts. When their works was done they sat back and contemplated, and watched. Sometimes their children call on them for advice. But mostly they simply observe and debate.
One of the first peoples created by Kumarbi and Hannahanna were the Hatti. Most peoples they gave wanderlust and a desire to find something different. To facilitate that they gave these races a multitude of strange tongues. But not the Hatti. Us he placed upon our Plateau and told us to watch the other races and learn, but also be prepared to defend your holy land and people from the wanderers. But most importantly, we are to keep the secret ways and knowledge against the time when we must fight the enemy of Order.
Thus we remained in our chosen place. And we created great Oracles and Monuments where the Chosen of Kumarbi could observe the other races, protect the Hidden, and observe the mind of Kumarbi.
THE SCOPE OF HATTI
The Nation of Hatti is confined predominately within the interior and north of Anatolia. The most densely populated regions are the Anatolian Plateau and the headwaters of the Tigris and Euphrates. The Anatolian Plateau is exactly in the middle of Anatolia and is less mountainous when compared to the other regions. This region varies in altitude from 600-1,200 m (1,970-3,940 ft) west to east. Steppes are common. Geologically young volcanic features characterize the landscape. For the most part, the region is bare and monotonous and is used for grazing. However there are also many forests lining the mountain valleys and steppe. The Asi River is the lifeblood of this plateau, and has transformed the region from an arid desert plateau to a fertile plain.
ISOLATION AND INTERACTION
Hatti is the most isolated of the major nations, but it is still exposed to new ideas thanks to the nearness of Assyria. Hatti is the least likely to emerge from its protected region and go on foreign adventures. As a result its posture is defensive. However, the Hatti are also a very warlike people. They engage in regular combat with various internal factions in a ritual manner to resolve disputes. In a way they are constantly training for what their Seers see as impending invasion of their Holy Land. There is also some contact with the Helleens to the west.
TECHNOLOGY
Hatti technology is what you would expect from an average late Bronze Age society. Most metalwork is bronze, however there is a higher availability for iron here when compared to the rest of Hatti's neighbors. Hatti will adopt technology form other societies, albeit slowly due to the conservative nature of the society.
The Hatti utilize an extensive network of paved roads, such that their war carts, infantry and chariots can quickly move throughout their land.
THE HUMANITIES
The Hatti place little value in literature, poetry and music, even though they are one of the few societies with widespread knowledge of writing (Hattian hieroglyphics). Instead they place great value on monuments and other great edifices. It is said that the Avenue of the Gods in the Holy City of Ankyara Hüyük us unparalleled in scope and splendor: Gold statues of Gods and fantastic beasts line the avenue of marble and granite buildings. At the end of the Avenue lies the Oracle of Hatti - The God chosen ruler of all Hattia and the speaker of the voice of Tarhun - Hupasiya.
SUBSISTENCE AND MOBILITY
The Hattia are an agrarian people, with fixed cities and fortification defending the approaches to their settlements. Their greatest strength lies in the formidable mountains of Anatolia that shields them from invaders. The most holy thing to the Hattian people is their land. Unlike the other nations the Hatti can trace their ancestry to this part of the world. They are not from somewhere else, and they even recall the migrations caused by the great flood to their north.
POLITICAL INFRASTRUCTURE
Hatti is ruled by their God-Chosen in a Theocracy. The God-Chosen ruler of the Hatti is determined by soothsayers reading the signs of heaven and the divine Oracles who can find the babe who will rule when the previous Chosen one dies. Once the babe is chosen he or she undergoes a lifelong training in rulership, leadership, military tactics and the secrets of Hattian theology. At 20 the Chosen one becomes ruler for the rest of their life.
KINSHIP
The family is extremly important in the societal structure of Hatti. Inheretance is patrilinial. To not be acknowledged by family is the greatest insult or sign of failure an individual can suffer.
ECONOMIC EXCHANGE SYSTEM
Free market barter exchange of goods. People will exchange goods or services for a mutually agreed upon value of said good or service. There is some coinage of predominately Sumerian maufacture. It is said that the Priests of Kamrusepa are debating the merits of creating a local coinage utilizing the ubundant local mineral resources as a base of exchange.
ECONOMY TYPE
The Hatti are master artisians, miners and metal workers. In fact Hatti is thr source fro the uncommon, but highly sought after magical Iron weapons. These weapons are harder than bronze, but are difficult to create on a large scale - thus their expense and rarity. It is said that the Praetorian Guard of the Hattian King is armed with Iron.
RESOURCES
Hatti is extrodinarly resource rich. Hatti is the worlds source of tin, copper, iron, gold, whatever. The primary export of Hatti is mineral resources. Hatti also is agriculturally rich and diverse.
EXPLORATION
The Hatti have no interest in the outside world other than their immediate neighbors. Their keenes interest is in those who whould try to invade their land and learn their secrets. If a society is willing to leave the Hatti alone, then they are not interested.
TRADE
Hatti trades with its immediate neighbors. The mechianism for the wide dissemination of Hattian goods is via the Phonecian traders. The Hatti are warriors and manufacturers. They have no real interest in trade.
MILITARY INFRASTRUCTURE
Hatti most likely possesses the largest standing army in the Middle East, except for perhaps the Scynthians. Every able bodied male is expected to serve either part time or full time in the Hattian military, in defense of the Holy Land.
