The Highland Steppe is polite way of describing the region that is in-between and on the way to every where else. The high deserts are interspersed with beautifully rugged mountain forests with high pasture and farmsteads surrounded by wild-lands unlike anything else in North America. In this place Nature has the upper hand, not Man. One should plan their travels accordingly.
