Boundaries: Most of the pre-fall states of Iowa (with the north western border with Dakota hazy, but generally recognized to be at Cherokee), Wisconsin and Illinois (to the ruins of Springfield). Bordered by the Dakota in the north near the ruins of Minneapolis, the Jayhawk in the south and wild lands / Protectorate to the east. The capital is the Rock Island citadel, near the ruins of Davenport basically in the center of the territory.
Government: Constitutional Monarchy. Several prominent families vie for power with a Congress in charge of legal issues and funding.
Legal Code: Parliamentarian with a strong monarchy.
Climate: sub-tropical savanah transforming into humid-subtropical with some rain forest near the massive lakes.

Economics: Farming, light & medium industry (generally specialized in dealing with river steamships)
Agriculture: Maize, Soy, Potatoes, Sugar cane, vegetables. The Hawkeye empire is parked right in the middle of some of the best farmland on the planet. The populations health reflects this.
Trade: Almost entirely with Ironholm, independent Yankee settlements to the East and The French across Lake Michigan. The Dakota are too Xenophobic, and the Protectorate is trying to Finlandize the nation causing tension.
Religion: Post Rapture Order of the Redeemer 60%, Gaianism, 30%, Unaffiliated 10%.
Standard of Living:
Rural: Above average. Yeoman freeholders with large yields produces significant prosperity.
Urban: Also above continental average. Rock Island is a natural trade way-point, even if politics discourage it. The ability to levy a tariff on goods traveling the Mississippi has proven a boon for the nation.
Gender Equity: Nominally equal, in practice women outside of traditional roles are frowned upon, but tolerated when necessary.
Armed Forces: large and well equipped. The biggest drawback facing the Empire is its location. It has some room to expand to the east, but soon it will share a long, contentious border with the Protectorate. Not a pleasant prospect.
