The Lightning Spring series ended with Rich Miner in first place, Chuck Chute second and Perry Anderson third. We are into our Fall series and on August 17, Perry Anderson took two firsts going head to head against Rich Miner in race one and against Hank Jelinek in the second race. The Snipes sailed one race with John Marx first, Constance Gill second and the Enck boat taking a DNF. There were no races on August 24 or 31 but on September 6 three Lightnings competed in the Commodore's Cup regatta. Approaching thunder storms led to a shortened course for the race which was won be Rich Miner, followed by Chuck Chute and Perry Anderson. Afterward, Chuck and Cathy Chute hosted a great party at their home.

The LMYC congratulates club member Christopher Mackey who came in second in the Jr. Sunfish class in the Chatham Yacht Club Regatta, held on August 3 on Cape Cod. Also, here's a recap of the terrific Mutiny Regatta that took place on August 3. The dire weather predictions proved wrong and 4 Sunfish raced with A. J. Debski, skipper, and Gail Miner, crew winning. In second place was the son and father team of Robert Enck, skipper, and Bob Enck, crew. The third place team was Delia Ammaturo, skipper, and Emma Fiorella, crew. The fourth placing team, Erin Fiorella, skipper, and Daniel Cummings, crew, got back into the race after a capsize.

Younger children participated in other activities. Prizes were given for the best Walk-the-Plank technique and for the Moby Dick Paddle Relay. All participants, ages 4 to 18, in the "Draw Yourself As a Pirate" activity were given bandanas. Gail Miner came in first with the Best Period Costume followed by Michael Cummings second and Daniel Cummings third. Thanks to the Mutiny Regatta Committee including Jan Oldridge, Ian Oldridge, Margaret Anderson, Constance Gill, Kathleen Potts and Suzanne Socha-Cummings for their hard work on this event which raises funds to maintain the club boat fleet.
