On August 7, three Snipes competed in two races with the Andersons serving as race officials and set an Olympic course in a 7 mph wind out of the northwest. John Marx took two firsts while Constance Gill and the Mackeys swapped for second and third. The following week, August 14, brought three Lightnings to the course. Constance Gill and Angela Hopkins were the race officials. In the first race, Brent Cherry came in first followed by Rich Miner and Joe Fleming third. Rich Miner took first place in the second race with Brent Cherry second and Joe Fleming third.

August 28 brought three boats to the course with Perry Anderson and Rich Miner match racing their Lightnings and Constance Gill in her Snipe. Perry snagged two firsts followed by Rich and then Constance in third position. John Marx served as race official.

Our annual Commodore’s Cup Regatta was held on September 4. We had a great turnout with nine boats scheduled to race. Two boats did not start but seven boats competed in the first race and six in the second. John Miller was our race official. We raced an Olympic course in a north northeast wind that varied from 4 to 10 knots. The handicapped results put Rich Miner in first place, followed by Perry Anderson and Mike Kelly in a Snipe edging out Brent Cherry in a tie breaker for third place.

Following the regatta, Rich and Gail Miner once again most graciously opened their home for the annual Commodore’s Party. It was a great celebration with good food and drink that was attended by members, crew, guests children and former members including Bill and Connie Warren as well as Dave and Bambi Newton.
