Our annual Commodore's Cup Regatta was held on Sept. 5 and was followed by the Commodore's Cocktail Party at the home of Richard and Gail Miner. It was a light air day so only one race was held with John Miller serving as our race official. Five Lightnings and two Snipes competed with Perry Anderson, in a Lightning, taking first place honors followed by one of our new members, Peter Breiling, also in a Lightning. John Marx came in third in a Snipe.

The party at the Miner's beautiful lakefront home was a great success and was well attended. There were all types of dishes, including chicken, meatballs, crab cakes, Polish sausage, crudités and pork roast followed by a variety of deserts. The Commodore's Cup was presented to Perry Anderson and "keepers" went to the first three place skippers as well as the last boat to cross the line.

On Sept 20, two Lightnings match raced with Constance Gill and Angela Hopkins serving as race officials. Rich Miner captured first place positions followed by Peter Breiling second in both races. Sept. 27 brought sailors to the lake but after an hour and a half of postponements due to lack of wind, racing was canceled. As fate would have it, no sooner than the marks were deflated equipment stowed, the wind picked up allowing some of our sailors the opportunity to cruise and practice their skills.

Two more days of racing were scheduled for Oct. 11 and 18, after this article went to press, so stay tuned for the results of our Fall series and the overall results for 2015 which will be reported in the December Papoose. Also remember, our final social event for the year, our Awards Party, will be held on Nov. 15. This is always a great event so members and guests should plan to attend!
