May 2017 Papoose Article

Post date: Apr 26, 2017 3:46:30 PM

We kicked off the year with our first social event, the Prep Signal party which was held after our Annual Cleanup on April 22, 2017. More about that event will follow in next month’s Papoose. Also, our Mast Raising, followed by the Cinco de Mayo party at the Yacht Club, will be on May 6, 2017. Plan to be there to assist one another readying our boats for racing followed by a social event. Board members are reminded that there will be a Board Meeting on May 21, 2017.

Our first open regatta for the year, the Gabor Cup, will be held on June 4, 2017, with the first horn sounded at 1:00 pm. Our regattas are open to all LMCC members, with a sailboat of any kind. The races are timed and handicapped so that slower class boats can often win over the classes that are generally faster. If you have never sailed in a race, this is a great opportunity to give it a try—you may just want to join as a member once you do.

Please note that we are once again offering our Junior Sailing School which is open to all members of the Lake Mohawk Country Club. We will have trained, US Sailing certified instructors teaching the classes. Classes are open to LMCC members and will run from June 26, 2017 to July 28, 2017. There will be three levels of instruction. Students must be age 10 and above. Here are the details:
