March 2010 Papoose Article

Despite the cold and snow that we have had this winter, the LMYC has had more social events than ever. Business meetings at the Anderson’s have routinely been followed by pot-luck dinners and on February 4th, The Chutes hosted everyone for a surprise birthday party for Jack Robertson. We all had a great time—especially the guest of honor, as can be seen from the photo that accompanies this article showing Cathy presenting Jack with one of the cakes (yes, Jack rated two cakes).

2010 promises to be a great year for us and we hope that any LMCC members interested in sailing will join our club. Perhaps you have an old Sunfish but don’t know how to sail it. We offer lessons if you want to learn. Maybe you can sail but want to experience the excitement of racing. With us, you can learn the rules and see how it feels to win a tacking duel and cross the line first. Or, maybe you like meeting people who sail and socializing with them. We offer that, too.

If this article seems to be a bit of a sales pitch for our club, you are right. That’s because all of us in the LMYC are so proud of our history and what we offer that we want you to have every opportunity to get in on the fun in time for sailing season. And, you will find that the price is right! Our membership fees are modest and, dollar for dollar, we offer more than any other organized activity in the Lake Mohawk community.

So, if you want to join the LMYC, if you want to learn to sail, if you want more information, just call us at (973)512-8867, email us at sail@lakemohawksailing.org or write to PO Box 29, Sparta, NJ 07871.

Until next month, smooth sailing and God bless America!
