The LMYC is ready to race. On Saturday, April 21, 2018, a work crew consisting of a dozen or so of our members pitched in and moved Sunfish, raked and otherwise got things ship shape. Thanks to all who came down and to Joe Fleming for the coffee and donuts. A week later, Perry and Margaret hosted our first official social event for 2018, the Prep Signal Party, with mast raising and the Cinco de Mayo Party the following week. Racing started on May 20, 2018 and will certainly continue every Sunday until Oct. 18, 2018. Races start at 1:00pm.

Our first open event open to all LMCC members, the Gabor Cup Regatta, will be held on Sunday, June 3, 2018. Registration opens at 12:00pm and the races begin at 1:00 pm. The scoring is handicapped so any boat has a chance to win. If you have a sailboat of any kind, come down and join us on the race course. You may just surprise yourself!

Our Race Committee chair, John Marx, has posted the race officials schedule for 2018. It is on our web site. LMYC members are asked to check and note their assignments. Race officials for June, 2018 are as follows:

June 3: John Miller (Gabor Cup Regatta)

June 10: Richard Miner/Gail Miner

June 17: Constance Gill/Angela Hopkins

June 24: Hank Jelinek/Mark Marussich

July 1: Brent Cherry

Last Call for the Junior Sailing School: This very popular activity is open to children, age 10 and above, of all members of the Lake Mohawk Country Club. We will have trained, US Sailing certified instructors teaching the classes. Classes are open to children of LMCC members and will run from July 2, 2018 to August 3, 2018. There will be three levels of instruction. Students must be age 10 and above. Space is limited. Here are the details:

Dates: July 2, 2018 to August 3, 2018

• Sailing Level 1: Monday, Tuesday Thursday

◦ A.M. Class: 9:30 am – 12:15 pm, or

◦ P.M. Class: 1:15 pm – 4:00 pm

• Sailing Level 2: Wed & Fri 9:30 am – 12:15 pm

• Sailing Level 3/3+ (Snipe Sailing): Wed & Fri 1:15 pm – 4:00 pm

• Students age 10 and above

• Cost: Level 1 - $375; Level 2 or 3 - $250
